Australia Day Celebrations in Warren in 2020 will be held initially at the Warren Sporting and Cultural Centre:
8.30am - Free BBQ Breakfast
9.45am - Australia Day Ceremony
10.00am - Australia Day Ambassador/Speech
10.30am - Presentation of Australia Day Awards
Australia Day activities will then move to the Warren Memorial Swimming Pool where there will be free pool entry, an inflatable obstacle course
from 12 noon which the public will be able to use for a gold coin donation. There will also be a BBQ available for a gold coin donation. Funds
raised will go towards the Skate Park project.
Warren's 2020 Australia Day Ambassador is Mr James Pittar. James Pittar is an International Open Water Swimmer and has represented Australia
in swimming and rowing as a disabled athlete. James suffers from a genetic disorder called Retinitis Pigmentosa which causes a degeneration
of the retina. This disease was diagnosed when James was 16 years old after he suffered from rapidly decreasing vision. He was legally
blind at 21 years of age and completely blind by his early 30’s. As a direct result of his declining vision, James focused his sporting
efforts on the fields of swimming and rowing.
