    APPRENTICE HEAVY DIESEL MECHANIC 

    Warren Shire Council is seeking a motivated person looking to jump start their Heavy Diesel Mechanic career. To be successful in this role, you will have a passion for learning and heavy and light plant.

    This position offers an exciting opportunity to gain knowledge and experience while working on a variety of different machinery. The successful applicant will become part of a small team responsible for the efficient servicing, maintenance and repairs of Council’s plant fleet both in the workshop and in the field. They will be required to attend and complete necessary training, which may include travel and being away from home for block periods.

    Essential:

    • School certificate
    • Class C Drivers licence (or be willing to obtain within 3 months of appointment)

    We offer:

    • Full-time, permanent position, 9-day fortnight

  • Tourism Information Officer (Permanent)

    Tourism Information Officer 

    Warren and Macquarie Marshes Visitor Information Centre

    Applications are invited for the position of Tourism Information Officer, Warren and Macquarie Marshes Visitor Information Centre, within the Warren Shire Council. 

    The successful applicant will be responsible for the provision of services to meet the tourism information needs of visitors and locals through the Warren and Macquarie Marshes Tourist Information Centre.  The position will also focus on assisting with administrative support for a broad range of tourist products and services to residents and visitors.  The successful applicant will be experienced in general office duties, have outstanding customer service skills, be competent in the use of computers and digital media have a Class C motor vehicle licence.   The successful applicant will be subject to a pre-employment medical assessment prior to confirmation of employment.

    Employment Conditions

    Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award, and Council’s Salary System within Operational Band 2, Level1, with the current salary range between $1155.40 to $1340.26 depending on knowledge and experience.

    The position will be required to staff the Warren and Macquarie Marshes Visitors Information Centre Monday to Friday (8.30am to 5pm with a one hour lunch break) and also to provide occasional relief support during the weekends and on public holidays during Visitor Centre operating hours, negotiated with the successful applicant.

    Warren Shire Council would consider a job share arrangement for this position, subject to suitable candidates being available.

  • Trainee Tourism Officer

    Trainee Tourism Officer,

    Warren and Macquarie Marshes Visitor Information Centre

     

    Applications are invited for the position of Trainee Tourism Officer, Warren and Macquarie Marshes Visitor Information Centre, within the Warren Shire Council. 

     The successful applicant will join the small team of the Economic Development and Visitation Office of Warren Shire Council.  The position will support and assist the provision of services to meet the tourism information needs of visitors and locals and will be based at the Warren and Macquarie Marshes Tourist Information Centre.  The position is tailored to support the growth and development of the Economic Development and Visitation Office and will also focus on assisting with administrative support for a broad range of tourist products and services to residents and visitors.  The successful applicant will undertake training towards gaining a Certificate III qualification in Tourism and will gain experience in the provision of tourism services, marketing and promotion, event planning, graphic design, general office duties, customer service skills.  Ideally the successful candidate will have basic skills in the use of computers, basic knowledge of digital media, and have a Class C motor vehicle licence.   The successful applicant will be subject to a pre-employment medical assessment prior to confirmation of employment.  The period of the Traineeship is two years. At the completion of the Traineeship, employment with Warren Shire Council is not guaranteed and will be subject to available funding to support a position.

    Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award, and Council’s Salary System within Operational Band 1, Level 1, T1 to T10, with the current salary range between $468.00 to $1194.60 depending on age and experience.

    TEAM LEADER UTILITIES MAINTENANCE

    The Warren Shire covers an area of 10,860 square kilometres and has a population of approximately 3,000 people.  It is contained within the Orana Region of NSW and is bound by the Shires of Bogan (Nyngan), Brewarrina, Coonamble, Gilgandra, Lachlan, Narromine and Walgett.  Within the Shire is the town of Warren (Administration Centre) on the Macquarie River, population 2,000 and the villages of Collie, population 38 and Nevertire, population 103.

    Council is seeking an appropriately qualified and experienced team leader to fill the position of Team Leader, Utilities Maintenance.

     Reporting to the Town Services Manager, you will manage the routine and reactive maintenance of Councils utility assets.

     To be successful in this position, you will possess the following skills and/or experience:

    • Demonstrated knowledge of Council utility maintenance.
    • Demonstrated experience in resource management including staff, external contractors and plant and equipment to achieve agreed targets and timeframes.
    • Current Open Class MR Driver’s Licence or the ability to obtain within the probation period.

    Position Details

    • Salary Range: $1310.30 - $1519.95 per week + allowances
    • 11.5% superannuation
    • 9-day fortnight flexitime system – 38-hour paid week
