Media Release: Warren Shire to give Dusty a hometown hero’s celebration - Post Image

For 540 kilometres, Dusty Langby put one foot in front of the other to raise funds for Little Wings and country kids. This Saturday, his hometown will come together to celebrate his remarkable achievement.

Dusty’s campaign to date has raised almost $650,000 for Little Wings and inspired Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to pledge a dollar-for-dollar match of the final amount raised by the end of October 2026. The  Federal Government also committed to fund the Little Wings organisation for another 2 years.

Warren Shire residents are invited to celebrate Dusty and his support team’s phenomenal Dollar for Dusty journey at Victoria Park, Warren, on Saturday 17 October, from 2.30–6.00 pm.

The community is encouraged to gather by 3.00 pm for Dusty and his team’s arrival at 3.15 pm, followed by a formal welcome and gift presentation by Deputy Mayor Sarah Derrett.

Warren Shire Mayor Greg Whiteley said the celebration was a chance to recognise Dusty’s efforts in raising national awareness and securing funding to help seriously ill country children access specialist care.

“We’re all incredibly proud of Dusty. To walk 540 kilometres to help other children and their families takes determination and a big heart,” Mayor Whiteley said.

“He set himself an extraordinary challenge and with his team and a community behind him, achieved something that will make a real difference for country families.

“People here have followed his progress, cheered him on and supported him along the way. Now we have the chance to come together and say thank you on home soil.”

“I’d love to see Victoria Park filled with families, friends and familiar faces when Dusty and his team arrive. Let’s give them a celebration they’ll remember.”

The community celebration will feature local bands, a colour run, a jumping castle, a giant slide and a 360-degree video photo booth.

A free sausage sizzle, cold drinks, popcorn and snow cones will be available, along with tea and coffee.

Residents are encouraged to wear blue and yellow, bring a picnic rug or chair and join their neighbours in celebrating a remarkable young local and everyone who helped him along the way.
