Media Release: Warren Shire gears up to welcome Tour de OROC in support of Macquarie Home Stay
29 September 2025

Warren Shire will proudly welcome the 2025 Toyota Tour de OROC riders on Monday 6 October, with 37 riders and 8 support crew arriving as part of their 800 km journey across the Orana region to raise funds for Macquarie Home Stay.
The biennial event, organised by the Rotary Club of Dubbo South, raises vital funds for Macquarie Home Stay. The facility provides affordable accommodation for patients and families travelling to Dubbo for medical treatment. This year’s fundraising supports the development of Stage Three, which includes the construction of new urgently needed family units.
Ride-in to Warren
The peloton will travel from Collie via the Oxley Highway, with community riders, including children, invited to join the final stretch into town. Interested riders should gather at the rest area opposite the Ewenmar Waste Depot before 2.30 pm.
The peloton is expected to arrive in Warren at approximately 3.00 pm, finishing at Macquarie Toyota.
Charity Night
At 6.30pm that evening, the community is invited to the Charity Night Function, hosted by Mayor Greg Whiteley, Warren Shire Council’s General Manager Gary Woodman and Rotary Warren Club Inc at the Windows on the Wetlands (WoW) Centre.
The night will feature:
- Dinner and drinks catered by Glen Darcy from Indigichef
- Inspiring keynote speakers - Megan Reakes and Mike Tomalaris
- An opportunity to meet the riders and celebrate community spirit
Tickets are $40 per person, and all proceeds will support Macquarie Home Stay. They can be purchased from the Warren Shire Council Administration Centre at 115 Dubbo Street, Warren. Payment is required by Wednesday 1 October.
Leaders Ride For A Reason
Mayor Greg Whiteley will also join the peloton on the ride into Warren, representing the Shire’s commitment to supporting families across the region.
Mayor Whiteley said it was a privilege for Warren Shire to host the riders again this year.
“Out here we know how tough it can be when you’ve got to travel for treatment. I’m looking forward to getting back on the bike and joining the peloton into Warren. It’s a great way to show our community spirit and support families who rely on Macquarie Home Stay,” he said.
Council’s General Manager, Gary Woodman, added that the ride is a meaningful way for communities to lend a hand and ensure families have a place to stay when they need it most.
“Council is proud to be part of the Tour de OROC. I know personally how important Macquarie Home Stay can be for people in need of treatment and their families. This ride is about giving families the support they need at the toughest times and showing how regional communities pull together,” he said.
