Media Release: Warren Shire Called to Clean Up This Sunday
25 February 2026
Clean Up Australia Day is this Sunday 1 March 2026 and Warren Shire Council is calling on residents to roll up their sleeves and clean up their patch.
Mayor Greg Whiteley encouraged residents to grab their gloves, collect some rubbish and give back to the place we all call home.
“We’re lucky to live in one of the most beautiful parts of regional Australia. From wide open farmlands and quiet country roads to our local parks, riverbanks and community spaces, the Shire gives us all so much.
“Clean Up Australia Day is our chance to work together to protect our local environment and show the next generation we care about the world we’re leaving them,” he said.
The Mayor said even small efforts can have a lasting impact.
“Every bag of rubbish collected helps keep our Shire looking its best and supports the health of our waterways, farmland and local wildlife,” he added.
Residents, families, schools, sporting clubs and community groups are encouraged to register their clean-up activities and get involved.
Anyone planning to participate is asked to notify Council of the area they intend to clean so rubbish collection can be arranged.
A limited number of clean-up bags are available from Council’s Administration Office at 115 Dubbo Street, Warren.
Participants are reminded to wear gloves, sturdy boots, hats and high-visibility clothing.
To register, visit www.cleanupaustraliaday.org.au or contact Council on 6847 6600.
Mayor Whiteley said local action plays an important role in a nationwide Clean Up Australia Day effort to reduce litter and protect the landscapes and waterways we rely on.
“This is our backyard, let’s look after it together,” Mayor Whiteley said.
