COUNCIL NEWS NOVEMBER 2025 EDITION from the mayor's deskAs we head toward summer, water security is once again front of mind for our community. Having lived and worked in the Macquarie Valley all my life, I’ve seen our river in every season, from the long dry years to the floods that have tested us all. Those experiences stay with you. That’s why I was so proud to attend the Alliance of Western Councils meeting with our General Manager Gary Woodman in Narromine recently to talk about water for critical human needs and make sure regional voices like ours are heard as part of the Basin Plan Review. Our road crews have been hard at it, with line marking completed on key routes and flood recovery works on Ewenmar Waste Depot Access Road finished. These upgrades make travel safer ahead of the holiday season and I want to thank our team for the pride they take in getting the job done. Council’s Code of Meeting Practice 2026 is now on exhibition. Please take a look and share your feedback. It really does help shape our direction. As the weather warms up, it’s time to get festive for our annual Santa Street to the Business House Front Christmas Display competition. So dust off those lights and join in the fun before the Community Christmas Party on Friday 5 December 2025. Looking forward to seeing you all there. Greg Whiteley | MAYOR WORKING TOGETHER FOR OUR REGION’S WATER FUTURE Mayor Greg Whiteley , Councillor Tony Wass, David Duncan, Milton Quigley and GM Gary Woodman meetingwith the Murray-Darling Basin Authority and Commonwealth Environmental Water Holder Mayor Greg Whiteley and General Manager Gary Woodman travelled to Narromine recently to meet with fellow councils and water leaders at the Alliance of Western Councils meeting.
