Libraries across New South Wales will throw open their doors on Thursday 30 July 2026 for Open Doors, Open Books, Open Minds, a statewide celebration of public libraries during Library and Information Week.

The initiative, delivered by the NSW Public Libraries Association (NSWPLA) in partnership with the State Library of NSW, invites communities to discover the many ways today’s public libraries support learning, creativity, wellbeing, digital inclusion and community connection.

NSWPLA President, Councillor Romola Hollywood, said the day is an opportunity to celebrate the evolving role of public libraries and encourage more people to discover everything they have to offer.

“Open Doors, Open Books, Open Minds reflects exactly what today’s public libraries do. We open doors to opportunity, books to knowledge and minds to new ideas, skills and experiences. This statewide celebration is about showcasing the incredible diversity of our public libraries and inviting every member of the community to discover what their local library has to offer.”

Warren Shire Library will join libraries across the state by welcoming residents to explore its collections, programs, spaces and services.

  • Top Ten Authors for Warren challenge
  • Kids colouring competition
  • Bring a non-library member friend and have them join the library and you both enter the draw to win a prize
  • Tips, tricks and tools. Bring your device and the staff will help you with our electronic resources.

Warren Shire Library Manager, Erica Kearnes states that the modern library has more than books on offer. Here at Warren, we have the following:
