Warren Sporting and Cultural Centre Manager, Wes Hamilton, has worked with Council for a number of years overseeing scheduling for community and private events, as well as the day-to-day operation of the Centre.
Let’s hear more about Wes.
How long have you been working with Warren Shire Council?
Eight years.
What is your favourite part of your job?
Liaising with local community groups to organise public and private events within the Sporting and Cultural Centre.
What does a usual day look like in your role?
Scheduling in user groups to utilise a variety of areas within Victoria Park, completing gym inductions, general maintenance and repair tasks, and grant and report writing.
What is the greatest achievement in your Council career?
Refurbishment of the gym within the mezzanine area of the Sporting and Cultural Centre.
What’s one of your favourite memories?
Driving around the United States with my wife for two months.
What is the best piece of advice you have ever been given?
If you don’t go, you’ll never know.
What is your favourite thing to have for dinner after a day at work?
It would have to be chicken pasta bake.
What’s your idea of a perfect day?
Being overseas with no phone service.
What do you enjoy most about calling Warren Shire home?
Having all of your family so close together.
