MEET THE TEAM - Steven Bolton
12 July 2022
Steven has worked for Council for almost 30 years, keeping the Shire's parks and gardens looking pristine. With a great work ethic and a passion for horticulture, Steven is a key member of Council's team and takes great pride in his role as Parks & Gardens Foreman.
Let's hear more about Steven Bolton.
How long have you been working with Warren Shire Council?
Since around November 1994.
What is your favourite part of your job?
The crew of blokes I work with. We have fun, but when we need to get a job done they give 110% - and they make lawns and gardens look great.
What does a usual day look like in your role?
Our day changes from hour to hour. If we're not mowing, we could be fixing a complaint or preparing for a sporting event.
What is the greatest achievement in your Council career?
Doing a Horticulture course.
And hosting both the NSW v QLD Country League and NSW Country Rugby Union Championships.
What is something people don't know about you?
My hobbies - breeding large parrots and collecting garage antiques, like oil bottles and fuel bowsers.
What is a piece of advice you live by?
Do a good job to the best you can.
If you have dinner with anyone, present or past, who would it be and why?
My wife. I enjoy her company and she is the best part of me.
Where do you hope to be in ten years' time?
If I haven't won the lotto, I'll be doing my job here - if I still enjoy it!
How do you like to spend your weekends?
Looking after my gardens and lawns.
What do you enjoy most about calling Warren Shire home?
Our Racecourse and how good it is, the new facilities for our kids (especially the Skate Park and Splash Park), upgrades to our Oval and the major sporting events we can host, and how good our parks are.
I especially love how friendly the people in town are, too.
Warren is a great country town.
