MEET THE TEAM - Jody Burtenshaw

Jody has been with Council for over 20 years and throughout this time has worked in a variety of roles. Now as EA to Warren Shire Council's Mayor and General Manager, Jody is the glue of the organisation. Her fun attitude and willingness to always help, has made Jody a much loved and respected member of Council's team.

What is your role at Warren Shire Council?
EA to the Mayor and GM.
How long have you been working with Warren Shire Council?
23 years. I started with Council in the Records/Warren RTA Agency in 1998, and stayed in this position for six years. I applied for the Engineering Secretary position in 2004 which I then held for 10 years. In 2014 I became EA to the Mayor and General Manager. Having such a diverse journey in Council means I’ve also been able to relieve as the Creditors Clerk, MHD Secretary, GM Secretary and Works Clerk throughout this time.
What does a usual day look like?
Checking and answering emails, typing, reports, phone calls, following up on items, more typing, more reports, meetings, making lists, following lists and everything in between 😊
One of your favourite memories?
Council’s 2016 Service Awards – it was such a fantastic event.
In your role, you work closely with many WSC staff and the community, what do you enjoy most about that?
The best part is helping people when you can and being able to help achieve good outcomes.
What are the traits/values that define you?
Mostly family traits – Honesty, help if you can and don’t take yourself or life too seriously.
Your favourite quote?
Treat people how you would like your mum or dad to be treated.
How do you like to spend your weekends?
With family and friends.
What do you enjoy most about calling Warren Shire home?
Friendly and relaxed lifestyle.
