Warren Shire Council proudly marked the official opening of significant upgrades to Carter Oval Youth Sports Precinct and Warren War Memorial Swimming Pool on December 5. These projects, made possible with funding from the Stronger Country Community Fund, highlight Council’s commitment to improving local infrastructure for the benefit of all residents.
The Carter Oval Youth Sports Precinct now features modern, accessible amenities, including male and female change rooms, a referees' room and a fully equipped canteen.

“These upgrades are designed to foster inclusivity, with female facilities encouraging greater participation by women and girls in sports,” explained acting General Manager at Warren Shire Council, Stephen Glen.
“Since 2019, more than $5.5 million in grant funding has delivered extensive improvements at Carter Oval, including a turf wicket, cricket practice nets, soccer fields, an athletics track, LED sports lighting and community spaces such as a skate park and splash park with shaded areas,” he added.
The Warren War Memorial Swimming Pool has also undergone a notable transformation, with $1.6 million in funding supporting vital upgrades. Improvements include accessible amenities, an adult change room, a kiosk, a modern reception area and new concrete pathways to enhance accessibility.
“These additions have revitalised the pool as a welcoming hub for recreation, relaxation and social connection,” said Stephen.
