The Warren community has marked a major milestone with the unveiling of the newly upgraded Warren Showground Racecourse Complex.

On Thursday, 22 August 2024, we formally presented the outcomes of an extensive and multi faceted renovation project, which has been supported by over $3.6 million in grants and in-kind contributions. This marks a substantial improvement to one of our community's flagship venues.

Member for Barwon, Roy Butler, and Warren Shire Mayor, Milton Quigley, addressed attendees at the official opening, highlighting the extensive list of improvements and their importance to our local community.

Key developments highlighted included hospitality centred works at the GBS Falkiner Lounge, which provides for improved accessibility with the construction of a disability access ramp  and upgraded disabled toilets as well as enhanced aesthetics and functionality with new bathroom amenities, windows, carpet, tiles, paint and upgraded air conditioning and large entrance doors. A refurbishment of the grandstand steps and seating has improved the functionality and aesthetics of that area.

Improvements to the equestrian area were also on display, including the newly constructed 80m x 40m covered arena, security fencing, stormwater drainage and pathways and infrastructure to manage runoff as well as upgraded lighting controls.

In addition, the NSW Showground Stimulus Program has provided comprehensive upgrades to the showground, including the replacement of the cattle yards, improved camping area facilities, new electrical and septic systems, releveling of concrete and asphalt pavilion floors and the installation of exclusion fencing. New male and female amenities were also opened, as were the upgrades to the existing Pony Club amenities.

“These projects represent our commitment to creating a more modern, useable, inclusive and safe Warren Showground Racecourse Complex for our nine different user groups and their guests,” said Mayor Quigley.

“They have not only improved the experience for all locals but also ensure that our facilities are equipped to meet future demands. I extend my sincerest gratitude to our funding partners and the community for their support and collaboration,” he concluded.

The strengthened infrastructure and modernised amenities position Warren at the forefront of community development for agricultural and equine pursuits and ensure that our local facilities are of the highest standard and, as such, have the ability to attract State and National events to Warren.
