Media Release: Have Your Say: Local Environmental Plan Review Now on Public Exhibition
26 June 2025

Warren Shire Council is inviting public comment on proposed amendments to the Warren Local Environmental Plan (LEP) 2012.
Following a Gateway Determination issued by the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, the Draft LEP Amendment No. 2 and supporting planning proposals are now officially on public exhibition until 4pm, Thursday 17 July 2025.
The Local Environmental Plan is a vital tool that guides land use, zoning, and development within the Warren Local Government Area. This review aims to ensure that planning decisions support sustainable growth, protect the local environment, and respond to the evolving needs of the community.
Proposed amendments apply to various parcels of land across the Warren Local Government Area and aim to ensure that future zoning and land use planning continues to align with the region’s long-term growth and development goals.
Council is encouraging residents, landholders, businesses and community groups to view the draft documents and make written submissions during the exhibition period.
Council’s Mayor, Greg Whiteley, said the 2025 LEP review is an important opportunity for the community to help shape the future of land use across the region.
“As someone who’s spent a lifetime working on the land, I know how important it is to get planning right. This LEP review is about making sure Council’s plans serve our region not just today, but tomorrow too. I’d urge locals to get involved—it’s your land and your say,” he added.
