Media Release: Have Your Say on Council's Plans for the Year Ahead
29 April 2026
Warren Shire Council invites the local community to review and comment on its Draft 2026/2027 Operational Plan and Estimates.
The Draft Operational Plan outlines key projects, services and spending priorities across the Shire, including major road upgrades, a new kerbside recycling program and ongoing infrastructure works.
It will be on exhibition from Thursday 30 April 2026 for a minimum of 28 days, advertised in the local newspaper and available on Council’s website and Facebook page, with written submissions open until 4:00pm on Monday 1 June 2026.
Prepared in line with the Local Government Act 1993, the Operational Plan forms part of Council’s long-term planning framework and delivers on the priorities identified in the Warren Shire Community Strategic Plan 2035.
Mayor Greg Whiteley said the plan reflects a strong focus on infrastructure, essential services and long-term sustainability for the Shire.
“This plan is about making sure we’re investing where it matters most — maintaining our roads, improving our infrastructure and making steady progress on key community initiatives,” he said.
A range of projects are planned right across the Shire as part of Council’s capital works and infrastructure program. Priority spending areas include:
Roads, transport and infrastructure upgrades, including:
Wambianna Road improvements ($1,160,000) through the Australian Government Black Spot Program
Flood and storm damage reconstruction works under AGRN 1034 across Shire and Regional Roads ($2,700,000)
Buckiinguy Road rehabilitation ($1,144,995) under the Roads to Recovery Program

Rural Roads – Gravel Resheeting ($430,500)
Regional Roads – Bitumen Resealing ($250,000)

Waste and environmental services, including the introduction of a kerbside recycling collection program for Warren, Nevertire and Collie
Housing and community development, including:

Mayor Whiteley said community feedback plays a vital role in shaping the final plan.
“In a rural community like ours, local insight matters. The more feedback we receive, the better we can plan for everyone,” he said.
