From the Mayor's Desk - 3 February 2020
03 February 2020
With the recent advent of Australia Day, I want to take the opportunity to congratulate everyone nominated for an Australia Day Award. I particularly congratulate the award winners in each category and most importantly our Citizen of the Year, Grace Brennan, founder of the #BuyfromtheBush campaign.
The Awards again highlighted the number of good people doing good things in our community. I believe a record twenty two different nominations were received
with multiple nominations for the same person also occurring in a couple of categories. All of the nominees have worked selflessly to better the Warren
district, our town, villages and locations. They should all be proud of their efforts.
I also draw your attention to the free Skateboarding Workshops and Demonstrations to be held this Saturday 8th February from 9am until 12 midday to mark
the opening of the skatepark to the public. A “soft” opening will be held at 10am between the two workshops. Registrations for the workshops are essential
and details can be found online at TotemSkateboarbing.com. Whilst the huge and complex concrete structure is complete, public fundraising will still
be required to help with the cost of landscaping the area in order to make it a pleasant place to visit.
The Skate Park is the first stage of the complete redevelopment of the Carter Oval precinct.
