A big part of Council’s work is planning ahead to keep Warren Shire strong for the next generation.

Out here, water security is crucial. It’s the lifeblood of our farms, businesses and communities. So I was pleased to see it front and centre at the recent Alliance of Western Councils Board Meeting. The Alliance is working together so shires like ours can share ideas, support each other and speak with a stronger voice on issues like the Murray–Darling Basin Plan Review.

Planning for the future also means making good decisions closer to home. Council has launched its 2026 Recycling Services Survey to better understand how residents currently recycle and what options may work best for the Shire in the future. I encourage residents to take a few minutes to complete the survey and share their views.

I’m aware of the recent break-ins across parts of the Shire. The General Manager and I have met with local police and affected residents to discuss the situation. Police have advised that arrests have been made and investigations are continuing. My thoughts are with those who have been impacted.

Many of these incidents appear to have been opportunistic, often involving unlocked vehicles or homes. Please remember to lock your cars and secure your property, even when you are at home.

Knowing what’s happening around the Shire helps us all stay connected and prepared. Shire Alert provides updates about road closures, service interruptions, emergencies and community notices straight to your phone or email. If you’re not already registered, now’s a good time to sign up.

Warren Shire has always been a place where people look out for one another. With good planning and community support, I’m confident we’ll continue to build a strong future together.
