As we head into a new year here in Warren Shire, I’d like to take a moment to thank Council staff for their hard work over the summer months. From responding to weather impacts to keeping essential services and infrastructure running, their efforts help keep our community connected and moving.

Our community notification system has recently been rebranded as Shire Alert. It’s the same trusted service many of you already know, just under a new local name. Shire Alert delivers the right information when it matters — whether that’s road works, weather events, emergencies or important community updates. I encourage everyone to register and stay in the loop.

Connection matters in Warren Shire. We see it in simple, everyday moments. From families gathering along the Macquarie River to release native fish, to the pride shared at our Australia Day celebrations as we recognised locals who give back to our community in so many ways.

On behalf of Council, I congratulate all award winners and nominees for their contribution to our Shire and thank our Australia Day Ambassador, Warren Potent, for sharing his story.

Their efforts are a good reminder of what’s possible through hard work and determination — values we can carry into the months ahead as Council continues to balance caring for our natural environment, maintaining key infrastructure and supporting the people who live and work in Warren Shire.

Happy 2026 to you all. I look forward to working with you and making more memories together this year.

Greg Whiteley, Mayor
