From the Mayor's Desk: December 2025
03 December 2025
It’s been a meaningful few weeks across Warren Shire, with the people, projects and partnerships that keep our community moving forward. I’ve had some important conversations with Ministers and MPs about water security, road safety upgrades and the essential infrastructure our region relies on. Making sure our Shire’s priorities are heard at the State level remains one of my biggest responsibilities and I’ll keep pushing for the outcomes our community needs.
Closer to home, the launch of Country Heartline at Callubri Station was a real reminder of what we can achieve when neighbours, industry and Councils come together. It’s exciting to see new ideas taking shape that support our landholders, build drought resilience and strengthen our local economy.
I was also honoured to recognise the long service of several dedicated staff members and a long-standing councillor. Their decades of commitment have shaped this Shire and their hard work continues to make a real difference every day. It’s people like them who remind us of what makes this community strong.
With that in mind, I encourage you to submit your nominations for the 2026 Australia Day Awards, so we can formally acknowledge others in our community who go above and beyond for the good of our Shire.
As we head into the festive season, I’m looking forward to seeing everyone at the Warren Shire Community Christmas Party this Friday, 5 December and getting out for a tour of the Santa Street and Business Shop Front Window competitions. Judging takes place from 12–14 December so there’s still time to dust off your decorations and light up the Shire.
Wishing everyone a safe, joyful and very festive start to summer.
Greg Whiteley, Mayor
