Media Release: Council Ready to Deliver for Warren Shire in 2026/2027

Road improvements, flood restoration, infrastructure upgrades and community projects will remain a key focus across Warren Shire over the next 12 months following the adoption of Council's 2026/2027 Operational Plan and Estimates.
Adopted at Council's June Ordinary Meeting, the Operational Plan confirms the projects, services and priorities that will guide Council's work throughout the coming financial year, with the Estimates providing the financial framework to support their delivery.
Mayor Greg Whiteley said the adopted plan reflects Council's commitment to delivering the services and infrastructure the community relies on in a financially responsible manner.
"This plan is about getting on with the job," Mayor Whiteley said.
"From looking after our roads and continuing flood restoration to rolling out our new kerbside recycling service, maintaining essential services and improving community facilities, there's plenty of work ahead and this plan sets out how we'll deliver it."
"We know people expect Council to spend their money wisely and that's exactly what we're committed to doing. We'll keep delivering the services our communities rely on while making the most of every funding opportunity that comes our way."
The adopted Operational Plan outlines a significant program of works and initiatives across the Shire, including:
- $2.7 million in flood and storm damage reconstruction works across Shire and Regional Roads.
- $1.16 million for Wambianna Road improvements through the Australian Government Black Spot Program.
- Almost $1.15 million for Buckiinguy Road rehabilitation under the Roads to Recovery Program.
- $1 million for Bullagreen Road upgrades through the Regional Emergency Roads Repair Program.
- The rollout of a new kerbside recycling service for Warren, Nevertire and Collie from October 2026.
- Continued investment in water and sewer infrastructure, parks and community facilities, housing initiatives and digital improvements to Council services.
Council's General Manager Gary Woodman said every project included in the adopted Operational Plan had been carefully considered to ensure Council continued delivering the services residents rely on while investing in the future.
"Our job is to make every ratepayer dollar go as far as it can," Mr Woodman said.
"That means planning carefully, delivering projects efficiently and continuing to secure grant funding wherever possible so we can achieve more for our community."
