From the Mayor's Desk - August Council News
August has been a turbulent month for Warren Shire residents, with releases from the Burrendong Dam combined with ongoing rainfall causing prolonged flooding along the Macquarie River.
As reported in our Urgent Update issued earlier this month, Council and the NSW SES have everything in place to mitigate the effects of further river rises and we continue to monitor upcoming weather forecasts. I reiterate my thanks to everyone who has donated tractors to assist with our flood mitigation efforts.
In the coming month, residents will also experience changes to the provision of health services in Warren Shire, as well as a change to their bin collection days. (Read related articles for further details).
Finally, this month we celebrated the commissioning of our new $6.15M Sewerage Treatment Plant and welcomed the news we would receive over $1.87M under Transport for NSW’s Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements for rehabilitation of 23 roads in Warren Shire that sustained storm and flood damage in early 2021, with further claims being prepared.
