Council Meeting Highlights September 2026

Warren Shire’s Ordinary Council Meeting was held on Thursday 24 September 2026 and live streamed on Council’s official YouTube channel. Highlights from this meeting included:
MAYOR AND DEPUTY MAYOR RE-ELECTED
Mayor Greg Whiteley and Deputy Mayor Sarah Derrett were both re-elected unopposed for two-year terms ending in September 2028.
ROUND ABOUT CONCEPT APPROVED
Council approved a concept design for a roundabout at the intersection of Dubbo Street, Carinda Road and Industrial Access Road. This replaces the previously approved intersection realignment concept.
SPORTING PRECINCT USERS TO HELP SHAPE FUTURE PLANS
Council will form two sub-committees, bringing Sporting Facilities Committee members and sporting and cultural users together to plan for Victoria Park and the Carter Oval Youth Sports Precinct. An onsite meeting with Victoria Park users is planned for October, with Carter Oval Youth Sports Precinct discussions to follow.
FUNDING ALLOCATED FOR COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS PARTY
Council approved a $30,000 allocation for the 2026 Warren Shire Community Christmas Party, using additional funding received through the 2026/2027 Financial Assistance Grant.
TENDERS ACCEPTED FOR COUNCIL PLANT
Council accepted tenders for a crew truck, tipper truck, street sweeper, two backhoe loaders and an automated bitumen truck. These vehicles and machines will support Council’s engineering and maintenance work across the Shire.
INTERNAL AUDIT ACTIONS TO STRENGTHEN COUNCIL GOVERNANCE
Council noted the findings and agreed actions from internal audits of legislative compliance and cyber security.
CHRISTMAS CLOSURE DATES SET
The Shire Office, Service NSW Agency, Library and Works Depot will close at the end of business on Thursday 24 December 2026 and reopen on Monday 4 January 2027. Details for other Council services will be communicated closer to the holiday period.
REPORT OF DELEGATES RECEIVED AND CONSIDERED
Council received and noted reports from the Outback Arts Meeting held on Monday 27 July 2026, the 2026 National Bush Summit held in Dubbo from 26 to 27 August 2026, Castlereagh Macquarie County Council held on Monday 31 August 2026 and the Alliance of Western Councils Board Meeting held on Friday 4 September 2026.
AUGUST FINANCIAL REPORTS RECEIVED
Council received the August 2026 Reconciliation Certificate and the Statement of Rates and Annual Charges as at 10 September 2026 as part of its regular financial reporting.
