Council Meeting Highlights - May 2026

Warren Shire’s Ordinary Council Meeting was held on Thursday 28 May 2026. The meeting was live streamed on Council’s official YouTube channel. Highlights from this meeting included:
RIVERSMART PARTNERSHIP EXTENDED FOR STRATEGIC REVIEW
Council agreed to extend its Memorandum of Agreement with RiverSmart Australia for a further 12 months while undertaking a comprehensive review of the partnership and future opportunities.
CONTINUED INVESTMENT IN ROADS, INFRASTRUCTURE AND TOWN SERVICES
Council received and noted updates on capital works and maintenance activities across the Shire, including road resealing programs, road safety improvements, flood management initiatives and the RR202 Marthaguy Road upgrade project.
Councillors also received reports on water, sewer and aerodrome infrastructure maintenance, including pump replacements, water system upgrades and runway improvements, to support the ongoing delivery of essential services.
COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVES TO ATTEND STATE WATER CONFERENCE
Council approved attendance at the 2026 LGNSW Water Management Conference, providing an opportunity to explore emerging water management challenges and solutions relevant to regional communities.
REPORT OF DELEGATES RECEIVED AND CONSIDERED
Council received and considered minutes from the recent delegate meetings including the NSW PLA Central West Zone Library Meeting held on Thursday 19th March 2026, Country Mayors Association of New South Wales Inc Meeting held on Friday 27th March 2026, the Warren Interagency Support Services Meeting held on Monday 20th April 2026 and the Warren Health Action Committee Meeting held on Monday 29th April 2026.
COUNCILLOR AND MAYORAL FEES SET FOR 2026/27Council adopted the Local Government Remuneration Tribunal's 3.7% increase, setting the annual Councillor fee at $11,547.86 and the Mayoral fee at $31,497.35 from 1 July 2026.
QUARTERLY BUDGET REVIEW ADOPTED
Council received the April 2026 Reconciliation Certificate and the Statement of Rates and Annual Charges outlining the current status of collections. These reports reflect Council’s ongoing commitment to transparency and sound financial management.
The March 2026 Quarterly Budget Review was adopted with amendments to itemised budgets authorised and a budget overview to be provided to Councillors.
CONFIDENTIAL MATTERS CONSIDEREDCouncil considered several confidential matters in accordance with the Local Government Act, including reports relating to tender evaluations and commercial activities.
