Council Meeting Highlights - June 2026

Warren Shire’s Ordinary Council Meeting was held on Thursday 25 June 2026. The meeting was live streamed on Council’s official YouTube channel. Highlights from this meeting included:
2026/2027 OPERATIONAL PLAN AND BUDGET ADOPTED
Council adopted the 2026/2027 Operational Plan and Estimates, setting the strategic direction, budget and key priorities for the coming financial year. The adopted plan includes Council's Revenue Policy, Fees and Charges and a range of projects and services to be delivered across the Shire during 2026/2027.
Council also formally resolved to make and levy the 2026/2027 rates and annual charges, enabling rates to be issued from July 2026.
KERBSIDE RECYCLING PROGRAM AND FUNDING APPROVED
Council approved the implementation and funding of the Warren Shire Kerbside Recycling Program as part of the adopted 2026/2027 Operational Plan and Estimates. The program will provide a fortnightly kerbside recycling service, including the provision of 240L recycling Council-owned bins, to residents in the Warren, Nevertire and Collie garbage collection areas.
CONTINUED INVESTMENT IN ROADS, INFRASTRUCTURE AND TOWN SERVICES
Council received and noted updates on road maintenance, capital works and town services projects across the Shire. Progress continues on key infrastructure works, together with ongoing maintenance of water, sewer, parks and public facilities to support the delivery of essential services.
LOCAL TRADES AND COMMERCIAL SERVICES PREFERRED SUPPLIER PANEL EXTENDED
Council approved the establishment of a Preferred Supplier Arrangement for Local Trades and Commercial Services through to 30 June 2028. The arrangement will support the efficient delivery of maintenance and infrastructure works while continuing to utilise local businesses and contractors where appropriate.
COUNCIL MEETING CODE REINSTATED
Following the disallowance of the Regulation by the NSW Legislative Council (Upper House) prescribing the current Model Meeting Code of Practice, Council resolved to rescind the adoption of the 2026 Code of Meeting Practice and reinstate the Warren Shire Council Code of Meeting Practice 2025. The reinstated Code incorporates the mandatory provisions of the previous 2021 Model Meeting Code and will continue to guide the conduct of Council meetings.
DEVELOPMENT APPROVALS - MAY 2026
One Development Application was approved during May 2026 for the installation of a fibreglass inground swimming pool at 2 Boston Street, Warren, Lot 1 DP357930.
REPORT OF DELEGATES RECEIVED AND CONSIDERED
Council received and considered reports from recent delegate meetings, including the Country Mayors Association of New South Wales Inc. meeting held on Friday, 8 May 2026, the Castlereagh Macquarie County Council meeting held on Monday, 11 May 2026 and the Warren Interagency Support Services meeting held on Monday, 15 June 2026.
FINANCIAL TRANSPARENCY
Council received the May 2026 Reconciliation Certificate together with the Statement of Rates and Annual Charges, continuing Council's commitment to transparent financial reporting and sound financial management.
