Council Meeting Highlights - August 2026

Warren Shire’s Ordinary Council Meeting was held on Thursday 27 August 2026 and live streamed on Council’s official YouTube channel. Highlights from this meeting included: 

KERBSIDE RECYCLING ROLLOUT UNDERWAY

Council noted continued progress towards the introduction of fortnightly kerbside recycling across Warren, Nevertire and Collie. New yellow-lid recycling bins have arrived, with delivery to eligible properties commencing from 11 September ahead of the first collection on Wednesday, 7 October 2026. A community education campaign is also underway to help residents get ready for the new service. 

WARREN LEVEE REHABILITATION PROJECT NEARS COMPLETION

Council received an update on the $7.1 million Warren Town Levee Rehabilitation Project with substantial progress made throughout July and August. Construction remains on track for completion by the end of August, followed by final project reporting and funding acquittal in September 2026. 

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE GRANT INCREASE

Council noted an indicative Financial Assistance Grant allocation of $4.376 million for 2026/2027, approximately $61,000 more than budgeted. The Australian Government funding supports Council services, infrastructure and local roads.

COUNCIL SUPPORTS LITTLE WINGS FUNDRAISING WALK

Council approved a $3,000 contribution towards traffic control for Dusty Langby’s Warren-to-Canberra fundraising walk supporting Little Wings and the families it assists. 

ADDITIONAL FUNDING ALLOCATED TO REGIONAL BRIDGE MAINTENANCE

Council approved an additional $23,380 from its Regional Roads Block Grant funding for regional bridge maintenance and repairs, bringing the total 2026/2027 budget allocation to $148,000. 

ROADS PROGRAM CONTINUES ACROSS THE SHIRE

Council received an update on road maintenance and rehabilitation works across the Shire. Recent works included rehabilitation on RR202 Marthaguy Road, gravel resheeting on SR65 Old Warren Road and SR23 Gradgery Lane, maintenance grading on SR61 Elsinore Road and tarpatching repairs across RR333 Carinda Road and RR347 Collie–Trangie Road.

UPDATED COUNCIL POLICIES ADOPTED

Council adopted its amended Investment Policy and Employee Leave Policy and Procedure. The updated policies support Council’s ongoing financial governance and the consistent management of employee leave entitlements.

DRAFT DATA BREACH POLICY TO GO ON PUBLIC EXHIBITION

Council endorsed the public exhibition of its Draft Data Breach Policy for a minimum of 28 days.

The draft Policy establishes a framework for responding to suspected or confirmed breaches involving personal information and supports Council’s obligations under the NSW Mandatory Notification of Data Breach Scheme.

Subject to no adverse submissions being received during the exhibition period, the Policy will be adopted.

REPORT OF DELEGATES RECEIVED AND CONSIDERED 

Council received and considered the report from the Warren Support Services Interagency meeting held on Monday, 10 August 2026. 

JULY FINANCIAL REPORTS RECEIVED

Council received the July 2026 Reconciliation Certificate together with the Statement of Rates and Annual Charges as at 31 July 2026, continuing Council’s regular financial reporting and oversight.
