Media Release: Council encourages 2027 Australia Day Award Nominations

Warren Shire residents are being encouraged to recognise the people making a difference in their community and put their names forward for the 2027 Australia Day Awards.
From sport to service, Warren Shire Council is calling for nominations that reflect the many ways people contribute to the community.
Mayor Greg Whiteley said the Awards are about celebrating the people who make Warren Shire a great place to live.
“Great communities start with great people and we’re fortunate to have that right across our Shire,” Mayor Greg Whiteley said.
"You see it every day — people showing up, helping out and getting things done. This is a good opportunity to recognise that and give them the credit they deserve.”
Last year’s award winners highlighted the many ways people contribute to life in Warren Shire.
Recipients included Citizen of the Year Junette (Nettie) Slade, Young Citizen of the Year Charlie Gale and Business House of the Year Western Mowers and Pumps, along with a range of individuals and organisations recognised across the community.
Council is encouraging residents to take a moment to think about those who make a difference and consider putting their name forward.
Awards will be presented across a range of categories, including Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Community Service, Sportsperson or Sporting Organisation of the Year, Community Event of the Year, Young Achiever of the Year and Business House of the Year.
Nominations close Thursday 10 December 2026.
