Council congratulates Grace Brennan on NSW Regional Woman of the Year Win
09 March 2021
Warren Shire local Grace Brennan has won NSW Regional Woman of the Year in the 2021 NSW Women of the Year Awards for her role in encouraging all Australians to #buyfromthebush.
Announced today, the awards recognise and celebrate the outstanding contribution women make across all NSW regional and rural communities.
Ms Brennan started #buyfromthebush in 2019 as a social media campaign to support rural businesses and communities facing drought. The campaign gained more than a quarter of a million followers on Instagram and saw a $5 million revenue uplift for rural businesses, most of which are women-led.
Mayor of Warren, Councillor Milton Quigley, says being named NSW Regional Woman of the Year is recognition of the impact Ms Brennan has made on so many communities affected by extreme weather events and economic downturn.
“Grace has made such a significant contribution to rural communities through uniting city and country with #buyfromthebush. By calling on people in the city to invest in bush-based businesses, Grace’s initiative has revitalised many rural communities and supports their survival into the future,” says Mayor Quigley.
“Warren Shire Council and our local community congratulates Grace on winning NSW Regional Woman of the Year and on behalf of many rural communities like ours, we are grateful for the valuable support #buyfromthebush provides.”
“And to all of the incredible women living and working in the Warren Shire, I take this opportunity to thank you for the invaluable contributions you make to enrich, enhance and advance the fabric of our lives here in Warren.”
